Tarot Reading: What It Really Is (and What It Isn’t) By Tania

Updated: Aug 6

Tarot reading has been around for centuries, yet it still holds a certain mystery for many people. Some imagine a dark room, flickering candles, and a dramatic voice declaring their fate. But in reality, tarot is far more grounded, empowering, and insightful than most people think.

After over 31 years of reading tarot professionally, I’ve seen firsthand how this powerful tool can offer clarity, comfort, and guidance—especially during times of uncertainty.

What Is Tarot, Really?

Tarot is a symbolic language made up of 78 cards, each holding unique meanings, themes, and energies. The cards reflect aspects of your life—past, present, and potential future—and help illuminate the patterns and energies influencing your current situation.

But here’s the key: tarot doesn’t tell your future. It shows you possibilities. It shines a light on what’s happening beneath the surface and helps you understand what direction you’re heading in based on your current energy, choices, and mindset. In short, tarot empowers you to make decisions, not the other way around.

What Happens in a Tarot Reading?

Every tarot reader works a little differently, but my style is intuitive, honest, and supportive. I begin by tuning into your energy, shuffling the cards, and asking for guidance on whatever you’re dealing with—whether it’s love, career, healing, spiritual growth, or life path decisions.

We explore the cards together, and I explain what I see. Often, the cards reflect things you already know deep down but haven’t yet put into words. Other times, they bring forward things you hadn’t yet considered—new insights or hidden influences that shift your perspective completely.

A tarot session with me isn’t about sitting silently while I talk at you. It’s a two-way conversation, one that can feel like a deep, powerful chat with a close friend—except one who’s deeply tuned in to your energy and life path.

How Can Tarot Help You?

People come to tarot for all kinds of reasons:

  • You’re at a crossroads and unsure which way to turn

  • You keep repeating patterns and want to understand why

  • You’re healing from something and want support

  • You’re curious about your life’s purpose or spiritual path

  • Or you simply want a check-in to see where you’re at energetically

Tarot helps you get out of your head and into your heart. It reconnects you with your own intuition, helping you feel clearer, more grounded, and more confident in your next steps.

What Tarot Isn’t

Let’s clear this up: tarot is not about predicting winning lottery numbers, spying on others, or determining a fixed future. Life is not set in stone. We all have free will—and that’s a beautiful thing. Tarot shows you the energies around you, but what you do with that insight is always up to you.

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re a complete beginner or you’ve had dozens of readings before, tarot has a way of meeting you exactly where you are. It doesn’t judge, it doesn’t push—it simply reveals.

If you’re curious to explore tarot for yourself, I’d love to work with you. Whether you’re seeking guidance, healing, or just a fresh perspective, a tarot session can be a powerful and affirming experience.

Your path is yours to walk—but you don’t have to walk it alone.
